Protein is the material that muscles tissue is made from and is vital for muscle maintenance, growth and repair and if you do not have enough of the right protein you cannot build muscle no matter how much and how hard you train. When exercising, muscles enter a state known as catabolism where they are broken down as fuel. To limit this breakdown and to provide the body with an appropriate protein source to rebuild and grow muscle tissue we use an extensive multi-protein formula.
Double-Action Protein Whey Protein Biological value - we use a high quality whey protein because of its extremely high biological value (104). A high BV means that a large proportion of the protein consumed is absorbed and utilised by the body.Fast absorption - whey provides the building blocks for your muscles and is absorbed very quickly so it can be put to use right when your body needs it. Additional benefits - whey is rich in protein sub fractions that may additional benefits such as an immune-boosting effect and assisting hormone function. Casein protein We have also selected calcium caseinate for its prolonged release properties. While it is not absorbed as quickly as whey, casein is still present for up to 7 hours after consumption and therefore provides a source of protein long after whey has passed through the system. This slower release provides a steady source of protein and can have a highly favourable anti-catabolic effect in the body, helping to prevent muscle breakdown. As some proteins pass through the body very quickly, they may not be absorbed and held in the muscles. Slower releasing casein may allow for more protein to be absorbed and retained over time. Calcium – Casein is also an excellent source of calcium with Xmg per serving. Calcium is particularly important for the nervous system and bone strength. Additional Ingredients L-Glutamine Glutamine is the most abundant amino acid in muscle tissue and plays crucial role in protein synthesis. Training depletes glutamine levels so an additional source is vital to promote growth and to prevent muscles from being broken down and used as a source of glutamine.Digestive Enzymes A major issue with supplements is that they often aren't absorbed to a satisfactory degree; instead they're excreted without key ingredients being put to use. We have included a digestive enzyme complex to assist efficient digestion and maximise absorption. Contains five enzymes: protease, amylase, lipase, lactase and cellulase.Daily Protein Requirements Taking 2.2g of protein per 1kg of lean body mass each day has shown to be very effective in growing muscle. For those with a lower goal for muscle growth, 1.6g of protein per 1kg of lean body mass may reduce the catabolic reaction to training and stimulate growth. Muscle maintenance: 1.6g per 1kg lean body mass per day. Muscle Building: 2.2g per 1kg lean body mass per day. Whey protein concentrate, calcium caseinate, fat reduced cocoa (in chocolate version only), L-glutamine, flavour (vanilla, strawberry or chocolate), digestive enzymes, sweetener (sucralose). Protein is the key buildling block of muscle tissue. During strenuous exercise muscles begin to break down (catabolise), increasing the need for protein. If this need is not met through dietary sources the body may draw upon its own protein stores as a source. For this reason, protein is often said to be the core of an effective nutritional program for people engaged in exercise. Shake two level scoops of Elsom Core with 200-300ml of skimmed milk, low fat milk or water (adjust to taste). Daily requirements may vary depending on bodyweight, type of training and goal. Each serving of Elsom Core provides the following amount of protein towards your daily requirements: 1 serving with skimmed or low fat milk: 42g 1 serving with water: 32g Milk or Water? Elsom Core is great with milk (skimmed or low fat) or water but which is best for you? The answer is: it depends. Make with milk if you want the best taste, prolonged protein release and some extra protein and carbohydrates. Take on water if you want faster absorption and if you want to avoid lactose, the milk carbohydrate that some have difficulty digesting. Why would I use Core? Core is as a convenient source of high quality, highly absorbent protein, to help increase protein intake to maintain and build muscle tissue. This is especially useful for those that involved in any physical activity as they have greater protein requirements. When / how do I use this? Click on the "Directions" section above for detailed information. Can I take Core if I have a medical condition/am pregnant? If you suffer from a medical condition or are under medical supervision of any kind, it is recommended that you consult your healthcare practitioner before taking Elite or any sports nutrition product. Is Core better than taking regular food sources of protein? A healthy diet should include a variety of high quality protein sources. We recommend that Core be used to supplement your normal protein intake from wholefood protein sources. Core is designed to be a convenient, high quality, highly absorbent source of protein and allows for a higher intake of protein without the added sugar or fat that may come with other food sources. Can I take Core before I go to bed? One of the main times the body goes into a catabolic state is during the night as we fast for a long period of time. Core contains caesin, a slow releasing protein that lasts for up to 7 hours. This is why it is often recommended just before bed as a steady source of protein throughout the night. Are there any side effects? There are no documented side effects from taking protein. Core protein is derived mainly from milk and contains a small amount of lactose (roughly equivalent to less than 100ml of milk). People who have a lactose intolerance may want to avoid this. If you can take half a cup of milk without any difficulty, you should have no problem taking Core. How long can I take Core for? Core can be taken regularly everyday as a convenient and effective way to increase protein intake over an indefinite period of time without any difficulty. It is recommended that you take extra protein on a long term basis to promote muscle tone and growth over time. Is this vegetarian? Yes, unlike many proteins we do not use rennet (a non-vegetarian enzyme) in production. However Core is not vegan as the protein is derived mainly from milk. How long will this Core last? This depends on usage. A 2lb tub of Core contains 22 servings. At one serving a day the tub will last 22 days. At two servings a day it will last 11 days. How should I store my Core? Tightly sealed in a cool, dry place. Can Core help me gain weight? Protein intake is a key factor in weight gain. Core is specifically designed to deliver protein to the muscles and can be used as a central part of a weight gain / bulking program. For more information on this area, please see our Nutrition section. Can Core help me lose fat? Boosting the metabolism is a key factor in burning fat. The amount of muscle tissue helps determine the metabolism and the amount of calories we burn each day. As Core helps to build muscle, it can be a very effective part of a toning / fat loss program. In fact studies have found that individuals that combine diets with protein rich foods and exercise have more lean tissue and lose more body fat. Also it is a protein source low in fat and carbohydrates, which is beneficial for people trying to lose weight. Why do you use casein protein in addition to whey? Caesin and Whey each have different benefits. Caesin is prolonged release, and so it releases amino acids for about up to 7 hours causing a highly advantageous anti-catabolic effect and making it a very good extended source of protein. Whey is fast acting and highly available. However whey moves through the system very quickly and after 20-30 minutes may have completely passed through. Caesin is added to extend the available protein and amino acid supply. Can I use Core if I am lactose intolerant? Core protein is derived mainly from milk and contains a very small amount of lactose (roughly equivalent to less than 100ml of milk). People who have a lactose intolerance may want to avoid this. However if you can take half a cup of milk without any difficulty, you should have no problem taking core Is Core of benefit if I am not a serious trainer? Many people have difficulty adding protein to their diet. People who aren't training at a serious level can still benefit from protein as it helps in firming up muscles. However you won't get as much benefits from it as you would if you were training. Will Core increase my energy levels? Taking protein early in the day can often ensure steadier protein levels and less carb cravings throughout the day. Having a quality supply of protein can help build muscle, which in turn can help energy levels. Can I get enough protein in my diet without taking Core? Yes you can, however Core is very convenient and high quality. To consume this level of quality through whole foods may be costly and time-consuming and you may inadvertently consume extra fat and sugar through other food sources. What's the difference between the types of protein in Core and on the market? Core is based on a mix of whey and caesin. Both proteins are present in milk and have different properties and Core is designed to use these to the best advantage for muscle building and providing available protein. Core has no added sugar or the artificial sweetener acesulface K. Core does not contain vegan sources of protein, as milk proteins have been shown to have a superior amino acid profile. Core does not contain soy, as soy generally is rick in isoflavones, plant oestrogens that most male trainers generally wish to avoid. Is Core a complete protein? Yes, Core contains all 8 essential amino acids. 1 2 3 4 5 |
